How Austin Medicine Works

Membership, insurance, and what makes our care different. Your questions, answered in one place.

Does insurance cover the monthly membership?

No. Your membership pays for access that insurance was never designed to cover: 24/7 access to your medical team, with the option of care in your home.

We built the practice this way on purpose. The typical model is one visit a year, labs that come back "in range," and a patient who still feels off. Staying close to you all year is how we keep you in your healthiest form, instead of waiting for something to go wrong.

What does membership include?

Membership is $299 per month and includes:

  • Text access to your medical team around the clock, including after hours and weekends
  • In-home care when you need it
  • IV therapy options

Ongoing care at Austin Medicine is provided through membership.

My labs are normal. Why do they still matter?

Our functional medicine approach is designed to catch the smoke before the fire.

Take an A1c of 5.5. On paper it is normal, and in most offices it barely gets mentioned. Here, we talk about it, make a plan, and look at what is actually driving it: what you eat, your body composition, and your daily habits.

Normal is not the goal. Feeling your best is.

We take the time to explain what your numbers mean, then connect your habits and patterns to the symptoms you are living with. Fatigue, weight that won't move, poor sleep, brain fog: more people feel this way than ever, and "your labs look fine" is not an answer.

How do I get started?

There are two ways in, depending on what you need.

What should I send before my first visit?

Please send any labs, imaging, and specialty testing from other providers from the last 6 months. We review everything you already have first, and add functional testing only to fill the gaps. You won't pay to repeat work that has already been done.
